Iran ‘Time Freeze’ lauded in Venezuela

Iranian director Abbas Omranibidi’s ‘Time Freeze' has grabbed best short film award at "The Day is Short" International Festival of Independent Short Film, Venezuela.

The short film was awarded at the international section of the event as a short film with two Iranians sitting on the jury of the fest.  

The third edition of the festival was held in Venezuela's capital Caracas.

Omranibidi has already made several other short films, including ‘Parking’ and ‘Tear’.

Following his success at the Veneluela event the director said, “I dedicated my award to my fellow artists residing in Sabzevar (city)” in Iran's Razavi Khorasan Province.

The short ‘Time Freeze’ narrates a real story and stars Bahar Nourian and Hadi Dibaji.

The jury chooses the best short film for "The Day is Short" International Festival of Independent Short Film in the following sections:
- International Fiction
- International Documentary
- International Animation
- National Fiction
- National Documentary
- National Animation
- Special Mentions

The festival that took place February 20-23, 2017 aims to showcase the Venezuelan cinema and its entire cultural sphere as well as international films.
